The xx - Crystalised (live)

With beautiful boy/girl harmonies, echoing guitars, and minimal beats The xx's self titled debut album is truly something special. There is a real dreamy but tense atmosphere to this album and sometimes it is not always easy listening. However you get a sense that these four 20 year old's from south west London have a certain maturity beyond their years, as they pull together the slow tempos and whispered lyrics to create something so very unique and original. Here are the xx performing a live version of 'Crystalised'.Enjoy!

Jamie T - If i were a boy (live cover)

I had the pleasure of seeing this man live this week and after seeing him tear it up at last years Glastonbury festival, i knew i was in for a good night.
From the moment Jamie T stepped out with his Pacemakers and opened with 'The mans machine' to ending the encore with 'Sticks and Stones' he had the crowd in the palm of his hand. His older stuff still sounded fresh and relevant and his new stuff blended perfectly as he captivated the crowd with his banter, unique sound and genre blurring music.
If you ever get a chance to see Jamie T live don't miss it but in the mean time check him out putting Beyonce's 'If i were boy' in a completely new context. Enjoy.

Lykke Li - Breaking up

Lykke Li's debut album 'Youth novels' mixes simple melodies, a bit of dance pop and a beautiful voice to create some really original music. The 23 year old from Stockholm is known for her love of playing with acoustics and once performed live in a toilet using the acoustics to full effect. Mumford and sons - White blank page (live)

From the first track to the last Mumford and Sons have created a truly unique and stunning album. With influences ranging from Crosby, Stills and Nash to Kings of Leon these four lads from west London bring us a sound with an old time feel that is packed with originality and freshness. If you don't own it already go out and get yourself a copy of Mumford and Sons debut album 'Sigh No More', you wont be disappointed. With his second album on the way and a short film 'The Defamation of Strickland banks' written and directed by him, Ben Drew (Plan B)is one of the most promising talents to come from our shores in recent years. 2010 looks like its gonna be a big year for East London rapper/singer/actor/director with his lastest single 'Stay too long' already gaining critical praise. With every album they record Brand new create 'genre defying' emotionally driven music, that is constantly evolving yet constantly inspiring. For a band that shy away from fame and the spot light Brand new command a legion of loyal fans and with the voice of a man that truly wears his heart on his sleeve, front man Jesse Lacey has the ability to make the listener believe every word that he sings or even screams.
Dont let the 'emo' tag put you off because unlike many of their peers, Brand new create music that lasts and really does tug away at the heart strings.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Always like this(live)

Bombay bicycle club's 'Always like this' has fast become one of my favorite songs of this year and with it's infectious bass line and beautiful lyrics what is there not to love? These four teenage lads from London first entered the spotlight in 2006 when they won Channel 4's road to V competition, and since then they have been hotly tipped for big things. Now out of school and full time musicians Bombay bicycle Club have produced a definite must hear album with 'I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose'. Here are the boys in the studio performing 'Always like this'. Enjoy!

Buffalo Bill, Drop the bomb on 'em and Elevator show a return to form for arguably one of the most controversial and talented rappers to ever grace the mic. In the years of his absence Hip Hop when through some major changes and there were many, including myself who weren't sure if there was still a place for Slim Shady in today's game. But when has the 80 million album selling rapper ever shied away from a challenge? and armed once again with banging beats from his mentor Dr dre it looks as if Eminem seems ready to fulfil his potential as one of, if not 'THE' greatest rapper ever.

Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (live)

Passion Pit's first full length album 'Manners' seemed to come out of nowhere for me but it has fast become one of my favorites from 2009. With tunes like 'Little Secrets' and 'The Reeling', these five boys from Massachusetts have created some truly original and melodic electro pop. Heres a great live performance of my personal favorite 'Sleepyhead'.Enjoy!

Wearing my rolex Made Wiley a household name last year but Eskiboys been big on the Uk scene for years and is one of the pioneers of grime. From being a founding memeber of Roll Deep to working with the likes of Dizzee and Kano and backing fresh talent like Chipmunk, Wiley has cemented himself as a Uk legend. Uk Hip-Hops rising star Master Shortie is an MC, a producer and a record label owner all at the age of 19. With tunes like 'Dead end' and 'Dance like a white boy' he's truly redefining Uk Hip-Hop with some genre blurring music. Keep your eyes open for an album sometime this year but in the mean time check out Master shortie performing 'Rope chain' live in the studio.

Florence and the Machine - Dog Days Are Over (Acoustic)

Florence and the Machine have been getting some much deserved exposure after their amazing live performance at Radio One's big weekend last week. Florence provides some beautifully hypnotizing vocals over the machines indie backdrop to create truely amazing and original music. With a place booked at this years glastonbury festival and an album out in July i think we can expect some big things from them in the near future. The Cool Kids and Asher Roth - Black Mags (live)

Two of Hip Hop's freshest talents on one stage, what more could you ask for? The Cool kids are truly the coolest duo in the game whilst Asher Roth has opened Hip Hop up to a whole new audience. In my opinion Asher might well be one of the freshest things to happend to Hip Hop Since Kanye Released 'College Dropout'. Check out Asher Roth's debut album 'Asleep In The Bread Aisle' and download The Cool Kids new album 'Gone fishing' from their myspace.

Lupe Fiasco and Jill Scott - Daydreamin (Live)

Lupe Fiasco is in a league of his own, from his flow to his lyrical content he has set himself apart from the others and has truly become a leader of the new school. Check out Lupe showing off his originality and skill on this live performance of 'daydreamin' with soul legend Jill Scott.

From 'Silent alarm' to 'Intimacy' Bloc party have created their own unique and distinctive sound while progressing musically. Through their last album they have made music that people can listen to aswell as have a good dance to. They are a band that seem to have no fear of playing with music and sound, which makes them stand out from the crowd. keep your ears open for the 'intimacy remixed' album thats out in May but for the mean time check out this studio performance of 'Halo'.

It seems that since the release of his debut album 'Who needs actions when you got words' in 2006 Plan B has stepped out of the limelight just a little bit. Over the last three years he's been working on his next album, mixtapes, featured on the big Chase and Status tune pieces and even popped up in Adulthood.
